[K1-B] Trek Bungle Bungles: Fly/4WD/Hike Day Tour
Fly with us for a fantastic day tour to explore the Bungle Bungle Ranges by air and by foot.
Departing Kununurra at 9:00am we head south over Lake Kununurra, the Packsaddle Irrigation area, and the upper Ord River, on to Lake Argyle, flying over some of our vast cattle stations and the Osmond Ranges. Our scenic arrival at the Purnululu National Park (Bungle Bungle Ranges) showcases the spectacular dome structures of the eastern escarpment.
On landing at the remote Bungle Bungles airfield we are met by our expert guide and board our specially equipped 4WD coach, with spectaular photo opportunities enroute. A gourmet brunch is served in full view of “the domes” before heading off on an unhurried guided trek to Cathedral Gorge and The Lookout, arguably the most awesome features of this extraordinary landform.
We will answer any and every question you have about the flora, fauna and geology of this amazing place.
The walk is an easy one with only a moderate level of fitness and agility required. Of course we carry a satellite phone, first aid kit, and water on the hike.
At 2:30pm we head back to the airfield for afternoon tea and an opportunity for further lasting insights from your guide.
The scenic return flight to Kununurra further showcases Picanniny Gorge and the western escarpment, before setting course for the Argyle Diamond Mine.
The western shoreline of Lake Argyle and the Carr Boyd Ranges lead us back to Kununurra where, as a special bonus, we do a fly-over of the Lower Ord, Ivanhoe Crossing and the Northern Irrigation Area.
This will be a day you will never forget!
Available from Kununurra daily. Depart 9.00am return 4.30pm
